| 'Mix 1 C brown sugar,white sugar,shortening,and eggs. Then add salt,sour milk,and vanilla. Add flour to make a dough. Chill and divide into 2 rolls. Make the filling by mixing the remaining ingredients plus 1 C water (except nut meats) and cook until thick. When cool,add nutmeats and spread on rolled out dough. Roll dough up to make 2 pinwheel logs and let stand in the refrigerator overnight. Slice 1/4 inch thick and bake in moderate oven 350 to 375. As an additional note to the original recipe,you can also freeze the unbaked logs (tightly wrapped in saran wrap or foil) and just cut off cookies to bake as desired.' |
